1.5 MULTITENANCY

A set of users who can access to resources in common can be called as tenant whereas an application where many users work on same hardware, also with the application and a database can be called as multitenancy. SaaS applications commonly used technique is multitenancy. It serves as technology whereby IT resources can be shared among many users. It is a feature which fulfils requirements of multiple companies or units with the help of configuration settings and provides a single instance of software to many. Evolution of as a Service and among them is Software–as-a-Service which serves as a delivery model and software delivery model also. Such services through the internet provide many applications to different companies and unit which are little different in functionality, multitenant software applications. 

       Nowadays servers, operating systems or any network related problems are itself dealt with these multitenant services and general people no need to think about infrastructure issues which prove to be the biggest advantage. In place of installing the software product at a user's own location, a person needs to log in from the website. Now "pay-as-you-go" serves as the main theme when cloud computing is being talked, also in SaaS, the pricing model is on approval of paying as per use by the users of cloud. For any SaaS applications, multi-tenancy is an important approach as resources can be utilised more effectively and economically. As the same resource may be assigned to many users and location of source data may be not known. Information is to be kept in different databases or many different tables.
